Wurst Night of the Year

On Saturday January 19, 2008, escape Cabin Fever and celebrate with us on the “Wurst Night of the Year” at the German-American Club of Albany, 32 Cherry Street, Albany, NY 12205 where we will be serving a hearty German Wurst Dinner Platter. Doors open at 4 PM. Dinner served at 5 PM. Our Wurst platter will include your choice of 2 Wurst (choose from Bauernwurst, Bratwurst, Knockwurst, or Weisswurst), Rye Bread, German Potato Salad, Sauerkraut, Potato Pancakes, and Apple Sauce at $20 per person. Spring Schnitzelfest

On Saturday April 19, 2008, celebrate the beginning of spring at the German-American Club of Albany, 32 Cherry Street, Albany, NY 12205 with our German Schnitzelfest. This month we feature live music from the Mountain Brauhaus Band. Doors open at 5:00 PM. Dinner served at 6:00 PM. Dinner choices are Jaeger schnitzel (pork) or Chicken schnitzel with mashed potatoes, and a vegetable medley at $20 per person. Salad and dessert included. 400th Anniversary of the First Germans in America

Jamestown was the site of the first permanent settlement in America and is commonly considered the birthplace of the United States. A series of events on April 19th and 20th in Jamestown and Williamsburg, VA, commemorates the first Germans who settled in Jamestown and honors their contributions. Brenham Maifest

The Brenham Maifest, one of the oldest spring German festivals in the South, will hold its 118th celebration on May 9-10, 2008 at Fireman's Park in Brenham, Texas. The Maifest is a community-wide festival celebrating local German heritage through the youth of the community in light of the joys of springtime. Highlights of the Brenham Maifest include extravagant parades, elegant coronations, a children's carnival and culminates with the Maifestival. Riesling & Co. Tasting

Wines of Germany and the European Union invite you to meet top winemakers and to be the first to experience the exceptional 2007 vintage from Germany as well as Alsace and Austria. The German Agricultural Marketing Board (germanfoods.org) will give out small samples of a variety of specialty foods from Germany. 29th Annual MainStrasse Village Maifest

Covington, KY

Chosen as one of the Top Ten Festivals in Kentucky for the Spring of 2007 by the Kentucky Tourism Council, and one of the Top Twenty Events for May 2007 by the Southeast Tourism Society, Maifest is based on the German tradition of welcoming the first spring wines. Maifest is the first major festival of the summer for the Tri-State region. 60th Anniversary of the Berlin Airlift

57th District Sängerfest Concert

The Dayton Liederkranz-Turner is proud to announce that it will be hosting the 57th Süd (South) Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana District Sängerfest the weekend of May 23rd – 25th, 2008. 40th Anniversary of the United German Societies

The United German Societies are celebrating 40 years at our clubhouse, the Bavarian Inn on Saturday, May 31st, with a Heimatabend of song, dance, soccer, music and language. The event is free and open to the public. Doors open at 6:00 pm and program starts at 7:00 pm. Germanfest

Milwaukee, WI

There are 4 bigs stages and several smaller stages featuring German bands, folk dancers and ethnic entertainment. The children's area puts on some plays for the kids, has a craft zone and a Pretzel Park. Here the kids can make their own Germanfest T-shirt, buy edelweiss, and play German board games and video games. The culture tent has exhibits from all the Milwaukee area German clubs and theme displays of German Americans who have made substantial contributions. In addition there is a geneaology department, German movies, and German craftsmen. In the middle of the park is a Kaufzentrum for buying German nutcrackers, smokers, linens, Dirndl und Lederhosen as well as other items. Dachshund races are a big hit. A 5K run/walk is held on Thursday evening and a beautiful church service is done on Sunday morning in both German and English. Of course the food and drinks are out of this world. Much of it is made and served by the German clubs including roasting the pigs and chickens. All is culminating in the 51th German-American Steuben Parade (20th of September). Since 1957, German-Americans have celebrated their heritage and the friendship between the "alte Heimat" and their new home with one of the most colorful, most spectacular Parades in New York City.
